What is Day Trading?
Day trading is the activity of buying and selling stocks (bonds, options, futures or commodities as well) with the intent to profit.
Positions can be held anywhere for seconds (Scalping) or years (Long Term Investors).
For Day traders, Entering a position and then exiting the same position is defined as a round trip. This is important for the Pattern Day Trader rule.
For example, buying 100 shares of ABC stock at $26 and 20 minutes later selling 100 shares of ABC stock $26.50. Minus commissions, you would have made $50.
